Darryl & Erica are hopeful adoptive parents from North Carolina waiting to adopt a baby.  If you are pregnant and considering adoption for your child, please read their Dear Birthmother letter and profile.

Dear Birthmother:

We know that you are facing a difficult and emotional decision and hope that you can take comfort in knowing, that with us, your child would be placed in a loving family with two parents who are committed to each other and to provide a safe and happy home in which to grow.

Your choice to create an adoption plan is truly selfless and courageous and you have our deepest respect and admiration.  You would be offering us a precious piece of yourself and we would be honored by the privilege of welcoming your child into our lives.  We truly believe that family extends beyond biology and, at the appropriate time, your child would know that you placed them with us because you wanted to do what was best for them and what a momentous act of love that was.

We are a loving, professional couple who believes in the value of hard work and education.  We were both raised by hard-working parents who sacrificed a lot to provide for us and who instilled in us the importance of family and strong spiritual foundations.  We understand the responsibilities that accompany parenthood and welcome the opportunity to pass on the traditions and life lessons we have learned to our children.

Who We Are:

We have been happily married for over 4 years.  We were introduced 5 years ago by a mutual friend who knew we would be perfect for one another…and how right they were!  Even after our first date ended, we laughed and talked on the phone for hours as if we’d known each other our entire lives.  That night we became the best of friends and it is on that relationship that we base our marriage.  We still talk for hours like we did when we were first dating and laugh hysterically at each other’s jokes.

We have a precious 2 year old son named Christian, who we adopted in 2008.  We give thanks for his birthmother every day and remember her in our son’s evening prayers every night.  It has been such a joy to be a parent and we are excited about welcoming a sibling for Christian into our family.   Christian’s playmate right now is our loving dog, Sergio, who is a Cocker Spaniel.

We are committed to raising our children in the Christian faith and providing the same spiritual foundations that our families lovingly provided for us, so with our family, a child would also receive a supportive church family.
Darryl is a college professor at a local college.  Erica is an attorney.  Erica’s employer, who is a parent of an adopted child, fully supports our efforts and will allow Erica a lengthy leave to be home with a child.  Darryl also plans to take leave from work to welcome a child into our home.

Our Interests:

We both love to travel and believe that seeing the world and meeting diverse people helps keep us well-rounded.  We also love amusement parks, and look forward to sharing that with out children.  We love all kinds of music and enjoy attending live concerts.  We are supporters of the theater, especially musical theater.  We also love to read and are avid art collectors.  We are big sports fans and enjoy attending sporting events, such as basketball and football.  We also love to spend a Saturday night at home with a cup of cocoa and a fun board game.

Individually, Darryl is a history buff.  He loves to cook and prepares most of the family meals.  He is also a big fan of jazz.  Erica enjoys photography, decorating, and crafts.

Our Family:

Erica is the only child of a single-mother.  However, she was raised in a house filled with cousins, aunts, uncles and her grandmother.  Cousins are like siblings to Erica.  Her family all still lives nearby and she visits them often.

Darryl is also an only child and was raised by his father and mother.  Darryl’s parents live further away, but he still sees them on holidays and at events such as family weddings and Christian’s baptism.

Our Home:

We live in a family-friendly subdivision in a two-story home on a cute little cul-de-sac.  Our home has five bedrooms and three baths.  Christian has his own room and another bedroom has already been chosen to be the nursery.  We have a playroom that is just perfect for kids, complete with a roller coaster!  Our neighborhood has a pool, tennis courts, playground, water playground, pond and walking trails.  We are just minutes from area schools, medical facilities and parks.

Religion:  Christian
