Dan and Mary are hopeful adoptive parents from South Carolina waiting to adopt a baby.  If you are pregnant and considering adoption for your child, please read their Dear Birthmother letter and profile.

Dear Birthmother:

You are a brave woman, and we admire your decision to carry this baby and give him or her life.  As difficult as it may be for you, you must take great pride in doing the right thing and giving this child the opportunity to live, grow and achieve.  We are honored to be considered as potential parents for this child, and we assure you that we will provide a loving and stable home where this child can grow, thrive and achieve his or her dreams.

As you look and read through our profile, you will see a picture of our little boy, Carson, who has Down syndrome.  We have taken thousands of pictures of this little boy, and we plan to do the same with the new baby.  It is our way of remembering all the important moments and milestones and our way of sharing those events with our family members and friends.  We post all of the pictures on a shared website so that our loved ones can share the joys of our family.

When you look at our pictures, you may see a happy little boy with his family.  When we see the pictures, we also see that there is someone missing.  We hope that you will consider allowing us this baby to join and complete our little family.

Who We Are:

We have been happily married for over 4 years.  We dated for four years prior to our marriage.  Dan fell in love with Mary because she is nurturing, loving and patient, all traits which he very much values.  Mary fell in love with Dan for his consistency, generosity, and strong moral character.   We are each other’s best friend and constant companion.  We have a strong marriage and resolve any conflicts through compromise and discussion.  We have a lovely home, a relatively comfortable life, a supportive family, good friends, faith in God and wonderful children.  However, we firmly believe that our family is not complete and we are unable to have additional children of our own.  We seek to complete our family through adoption.

We have an adorable son named Carson, who is 2 years old.  We discovered early in the pregnancy that Carson has Down syndrome.  At first we were sad about having a child with a disability, but he is a true blessing and a very bright little boy.  He will be a wonderful big brother!  Mary also has 3 older sons, from a previous marriage, who are in college and high school, and are all excited about having another little brother or a sister.  As each child is unique, our sons are all different; however, they all share the admirable characteristics of compassion, acceptance and faith.

Dan is employed as a territory manager for a national business.  Mary is employed as an attorney.  Mary works from home so it will be easy for her to combine work and caring for their new child.

Our Interests:

Our most important interest is our family.  We love being parents.  We are also active with the Buddy Walk, an event to promote Down syndrome awareness.  We love finding fun activities to experience together.  We live close to the beach and playgrounds and spend a lot of our time there.  We also like to travel to see snow! We enjoy going to professional and college athletic events.  In his spare time, Dan enjoys playing tennis and golf.  Mary enjoys photography, reading and family activities.

Our Family:

Mary is one of four children.  Along with Mary’s parents, all of her siblings live in the same state with their families.  Mary has a close relationship with her family and keeps in regular contact through calls, emails and visits.

Dan has one younger sister.  His parents are divorced and Dan has a very close relationship with his stepfather who helped to raise him.  While Dan’s family all live in different states, he remains close to them and also keeps in regular contact through calls, emails and visits.

Our Home:

We live in a family-oriented, suburban neighborhood.  Our home has four bedrooms and three bathrooms.  We plan on using a large, sunny bedroom for the nursery, which will be decorated in and age and gender appropriate theme.  There is also a playroom.  Our neighborhood has multiple playgrounds, swimming pools and sports fields and facilities.  Families in the neighborhood often get together for our children to play.  We are close to beaches, churches, schools and medical facilities.
